Our Intent:
In Travel and Tourism at Central Lancaster High School we enable pupils to become part of one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Our vision for our pupils to be able to explore the different reasons why people travel, become well rounded young people able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills. Pupils will show self-management, teamwork, problem solving and literacy skills leading to excellent outcomes which will enable them to access the wide range of employment opportunities predicted to emerge in the local area over the next 25 years.
The BTEC Tech Award in Travel and Tourism course is a practical introduction to life and work in the industry. Pupils will explore a stimulating introduction to the world of travel and tourism, the importance of travel and tourism to the UK and world economies and gain an insight into key areas such tourism development, tourism trends and much more. Pupils will investigate, plan, explore and consider how the Travel and Tourism industry operates as well as the impact of global tourism on local communities, the economy and the environment.
Assessment is through task-based assignments so pupils can demonstrate their knowledge and skills in real-world scenarios.
The transferable skills pupils master during their studies such as self-reflection, communication, teamwork and problem solving will also support their progress into higher education or employment.
