Our Intent:
In Business Enterprise at Central Lancaster High School, pupils will look to develop their analytical, problem-solving and communication skills to understand how business and the world operates.
Our vision is for our pupils to be able to be successful in the modern business world by being able to work collaboratively or independently to successfully operate and manage their own business or be an integral part of the UK or world economy. They will be excellent communicators, tactful negotiators, effective team players and demonstrate well rounded literacy, numeracy and information technology skills.
This qualification has a core of underpinning knowledge, skills and understanding, and a range of options to reflect the breadth of pathways within the local and national business and enterprise sector. This gives learners the opportunity to: gain a broad understanding and knowledge of a vocational sector, investigate areas of specific business interest, and develop essential skills and attributes valued by employers, further education colleges and higher education institutions. Pupils will be taught a range of highly sought after employability skills such as: Self-management, Working in teams, Respecting others, co-operating, negotiating/persuading, contributing to discussions, Business and customer awareness, Problem-solving, Communication, data analysis, literacy, numeracy and information technology skills.
Assessment is through task-based assignments so pupils can demonstrate their knowledge and skills in work-related scenarios. Pupils will explore, develop and apply their knowledge helping to develop their creative and entrepreneurial skills as they explore the world of business and see what makes or breaks an enterprise.
