Badged Open Courses with the Open University

These new online courses were introduced by the Open University in February 2015.  They currently have 13 courses available with another 15 being developed over the next year.

The courses are free and should take 24 hours to complete.  They are open ended so you can start a course and complete it at your own pace.   Each course consists of 8 modules with a quiz at the end of each one.  Quizzes four and eight are the qualifying quizzes, the others are revision quizzes.   At the end of the course you receive an e-certificate which carries the quality assured OU shield.

These courses are available to anyone aged 13 or over.  There are no forums, facilitators or personal messaging, therefore offering a safe environment for young people to complete these courses.

At Central Lancaster High School we would like to give a group of students the opportunity to achieve new skills by completing any of these courses, in particular the “Succeed with Learning” course.  The students will get the opportunity to work on these during school on Friday mornings, P7, with guidance from Mrs V Laycock, school librarian.

Here is the link to the OU site where you will find a full list of the courses available.
