Other Information

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the position of Head of English at Central Lancaster High School.  I hope the information provided will be helpful to you in deciding whether to apply for the post.

Central Lancaster High School is a small and friendly school with the well-being and flourishing of young people at its core. Pupils consistently say that they feel safe and welcome in school. As a school we are a welcoming and close-knit community with very close links to the local areas we serve. We provide an excellent education in its broadest sense, so that our pupils thrive on opportunities whilst they are with us and leave us ready to make their own way in the world as happy, healthy, resourceful and successful young adults. At the centre of our work, our core values of Community, Commitment and Creativity guide our all practice and decision-making so that we nurture a sense of belonging, responsibility, resilience and potential for staff and pupils alike.

In October 2019 we joined The Bay Learning Trust, a School Trust that has brought together four local secondary schools in the pursuit of excellence for all our local young people.  Our staff work collaboratively with the other schools to share best practice and support one another; our schools also benefit from Professional Development and strong ITT provision through the SCITT linked to the Trust Teaching School. We are ambitious in our plans for the future and are looking to build on what has been achieved in our first 18 months as members of the Trust. Our aim is to ensure that all our young people receive a high-quality education and have the very best chances in life.
